Overcoming 6 Business Paralysis Areas

Overcoming 6 Business Paralysis Areas

6 Business Paralysis Areas That Can Kill Your Business

The month of September is my mentor’s month for one of her retreats and this one is on mindset. Even though I wasn’t able to be there in person, she has been sharing insights into our mindset all month long. This has caused me to be in tune with Mindset and how what you think…really think…is actually what you get.

It’s all about alignment of your conscious, subconscious, and actions. And what you think…I mean what you really think (subconscious) is what you will get!

This explains why so often when we set some type of goal or make a resolution we don’t see the results we wanted to see. Why? Because what we thought (conscious) and then really thought (subconscious) weren’t lined up and this is the big one…the Subconscious will always win.

In a teleseminar I did, I spoke about the 6 areas in our business that our mind can bind us and can lead to business failure if we’re not careful.

In my coaching I’ve found there are 6 issues that can bind you and be fatal to the business if not addressed. See if you relate to any of these….

Issues like:

Fear: We have that fear we’re going to mess things up or afraid we’re going to go in the wrong direction or worse yet, maybe someone will think you’re a fraud.

Over Analysis: This can quickly lead to “analysis paralysis”. I know this one personally and If I’m not careful, I’ll analysis this, and then… I’ll analysis that, and then… when I get it all together,… I want to analysis my analysis!!!

Small Thinking: Instead of thinking BIG, you think small. Usually this is from self doubt!

Setting Unrealistic Goals: Be careful of this one. Goal setting is mandatory yes, but your goals must be realistic and reachable. Setting unrealistic goals can quickly kill your entrepreneurial spirit!

Shiny Object Syndrome: I also know this one personally and I bet a lot of you here do too. Constantly going from one thing to another… trying the newest marketing method, or buying the next big “bell and whistle” thing being offered. You change what you’re offering…or even worse…you change your entire business model? Do you see yourself here? Then there is…

Perfectionism: This is the big one and can really keep you tided up and bogged down, never moving forward…because you’re changing this….changing that….tweaking this…and tweaking that…. Saying…. “Just one more whatever…… and it will be perfect!!”

Understand, we all go through these issues from time to time in life and in business. If I can be open and honest here with you, in my own experience, I have dealt with all of these at one time or another since I started Simple Social Media in January of 2010 and since going online in the mid ‘90’s!

I can also share with you that as someone who is actively working with a business coach, these issues are being dealt with by many business owners from the beginner level all the way to the 7 figure level. So don’t think you’re alone…you’re not!

Any one of these issues on their own can present major problems and could become deadly to a business, but when you combine any of them… you have a lethal weapon on your hands.

It’s important to
1st – understand it…
2nd – Acknowledge it, and then
3rd – make every effort to change it.

This might even mean working with a coach in a particular area or for some it can be as simple as making a decision to change something and then implementing that change.

Most all of these binding issues can be related to perfectionism, or for me they have, and perfectionism will slow you down…. I know from experience!

Taking an even closer look at what this looks like:
I could write and re-write my blog post… 20 times… (and I have). I could Record and re-record my videos for hours… (done that too!) I could just freak out every time someone contacted me that I misspelled a word or sent something out with a bad link… I could just redo and redo… (Yep and yep to those also!)

But How many clients did all that tweaking, re-writing, re-recording, re-doing bring in?? NONE!

How much money did I make while I was doing all this tweaking and re-doing and not bringing in any clients?…. again…NONE!

But if you want to move your business forward and move fast, then you are going to have to……

….put your perfectionism in a box…. And send it packing!!
I know I just heard a bunch of “gasps” here from you readers because for a perfectionist (like me)… that’s a very hard pill to swallow!

But now I’m learning to take action and become a massive implementer! And guess what…since my focus is no longer on perfection but it’s on taking action and implementing…. I’ve gained more visibility for me and for SSM.TV, I’m connecting with prospective clients and…. I’m moving forward… it’s a win-win!

Perfection will never come. There will always be changes, additions, tweaks….and yes… even mistakes.

If you wait for it to be “perfect”… you will never move forward in your life or your business.

It will only slow you down from reaching the dream lifestyle you want for you and your family.

So…. Put it out there, get it going, come back and tweak it later. Seek help with any of these issues if you need to… but get it going! YOU…. can do this!

Simple Action Step:
I want you to look at what areas do you need to let go of?
What fears are you trying to face on your own?
What bright shiny objects are you currently chasing?
What about that perfectionism? And…
Who could you reach out to that could help you work through these areas?

This is just one of the many areas we take a deeper dive into in The Power Up Online Academy training programs for game changing entrepreneurs and small business owners looking to attract more clients, accelerate their business, and make more money. Key Marketing Strategies to Successfully Differentiate Yourself from Everybody Else

Key Marketing Strategies to Successfully Differentiate Yourself from Everybody Else

In online marketing, one of the most powerful elements is to determine something that will set you apart from the rest. You may be thinking, “But Livvie, I’m just like everybody else. I don’t really have anything that sets me apart.”

First: Let me say to you that you have more right there at your fingertips than you realize. You are a very unique person. No one else has your skill set, your experiences, your way of viewing situations and solving problems in your niche.

It doesn’t matter if there are hundreds of people doing what you do, they aren’t you! Don’t forget that.

Second: Be known as a client-focused business, a provider of stellar services. As a client-focused business you are known for making sure your clients needs are met and their problems are solved. You’re always looking for ways to make your clients happy and to improve your client services and support based on your clients needs…not your own.

Setting Yourself apart:

Recently hubby and I were eating Grits for breakfast and we started talking about when his uncle, who’s passed away, used to come from NJ to visit hubby’s mom a couple of times during the year. Before he left to go back, he made sure he purchased several bags of Grits.

Why? Because he couldn’t get them up North, they didn’t sell Grits up North at the time and he loved them!

Just like that, it started me thinking about how much that applied to our businesses. Yep, I’m always trying to see how something can be applied to business for being able to help you get more clients or to solve a problem. That’s all those “Client Attraction Tips” you see on my Facebook Business page and in your other social media streams.

So, because the Grits weren’t available where he was from, he made sure he purchased some and took them back with him.

How can you apply this to you and your business? By creating something that your viewers/clients can’t get anywhere else but from you.

At first glance this might seem like an impossible task after all we are living in an information overload society with social platforms going 24/7. How do you go about setting yourself apart from the rest?

Bring your Uniqueness:

As noted in the beginning of this post, You are a very unique person. No one else has your skill set, your experiences, your way of viewing situations and solving problems in your niche. It doesn’t matter if there are hundreds of people doing what you do, they aren’t you with your skill set and experiences! It’s the quickest way to set yourself apart and the least expensive, because it’s all right there at your fingertips. You competition can’t bring to the table what you have to offer.

Create your own Proprietary System:

Creating your own proprietary system is a more expensive route, but can be financially beneficial. This is a system that you have created, owned or copyrighted exclusively by you. It’s not something available for public use or resale. Example: Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office is owned by Microsoft. You can use the product (purchase with license) but you don’t purchase the actual product…Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office. The owner retains the actual product.

This is often the case with coaches and consultants. They create their own products, have them copyrighted and then teach the system to their clients. Clients may purchase a version of the product within the coaching classes/packages or when consulting but they do not actually purchase the proprietary system itself.

Your proprietary system is exclusive to you, your information and skill sets.

3:00AM Sweats:

Have you ever experienced the “3:00am sweats”? You’re awake at 3:00 in the morning, tossing and turning, breaking out in a sweat because you’ve got a big problem and you don’t know what your next step is or how you’re going to solve that problem. Your potential clients have them too!

No matter the market you’re in, you have potential ideal clients who’ve never met you but have their 3:00am sweat problems and they need your unique solutions they can’t get anywhere else but from you!

Simple Action Step:

Competition is fierce out there! Get started with one of the two options above (or both). Create your system using your uniqueness, experiences, and skill sets. Then focus on being seen as a client-focused business. Most clients are willing to spend more when receiving quality service. This also sets you apart by putting you in a position above your competitors and will allow you to even charge more for your services.

This is just one of the many areas we take a deeper dive into in The Power Up Online Academy training programs for game changing entrepreneurs and small business owners looking to attract more clients, accelerate their business, and make more money. Marketing Really IS Everything

marketing-is-everything

Today on my way to picking up hubby from his dialysis treatment I saw an excellent example of what is meant by Marketing really is everything! We live in a large city with many apartment complexes and having been an Apartment Manager for several years, I know that keeping them in “full occupancy” can become quite a challenge.

I had been noticing two apartment complexes in particular that were across the street from each other. Both had put out small yard signs in an effort to bring in some new tenants. The complex on the left had 3 signs out and each sign listed a different amenity:

  1. Beautiful Hardwood Flooring
  2. All Stainless Steel Appliances
  3. Granite Counter Tops

The complex on the right also had 3 signs out however, they all 3 were the same:

  1. Stop In Today
  2. Stop In Today
  3. Stop In Today

Consumers today are very busy and no matter what they are looking for they want the information instantly. With that said, what’s one of the first things a person wonders about when they are looking for a place to live? What’s going to be included.

Riding down the road and passing these two apartment complexes, you already know the apartments on the left have beautiful hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and granite counter tops!! What do you know about what the complex on the right offers? Nothing!

Just this simple marketing technique had already set them apart from the apartment complex across the street and many others. It’s highly competitive out there today! No matter what type of business you’re in, you have to find a way to successfully set yourself apart from the rest of the competition. Read  Livvie’s advice on How to Set Yourself Apart from Everyone Else

Now if you’re one of those saying “Livvie, there’s not anything unique about me, I’m just like everyone else”, let me say this:

You have more right there at your fingertips than you realize. You are a very unique person. No one else has your skill set, your experiences, your way of viewing situations and solving problems in your niche.

You are the only one with your skill set and experiences! It’s the quickest way to set yourself apart and the least expensive, because it’s all right there at your fingertips.

Your competition can’t bring to the table what you have to offer. How can you apply this to you and your business? By creating something that your viewers/clients can’t get anywhere else but from you.

It doesn’t matter if there are hundreds of people doing what you do, they are not you! Don’t forget that.

Simple Action Step:

Create your systems using your uniqueness, experiences, and skill sets. Then focus on being seen as a client-focused business. Most clients are willing to spend more when receiving quality service. This also sets you apart by putting you in a position above your competitors and will allow you to even charge more for your services. I’d love to hear how you are setting yourself apart from your competition. Right now, go to Reply and start typing.

Follow Up Marketing – From Coal to Diamonds and Back to Coal

Follow up communication

You may be doing everything right – super marketing plan – high ranking Google page – and great Facebook engagement, but unless you have a good follow up marketing strategy, you may as well be blowing in the breeze!

Exactly what is “Follow Up”?

Follow up means that you respond (follow up) on any inquires, telephone calls, emails, even complaints.

Next to building your list for connecting and  Internet marketing, how you follow up with prospects, customers, and clients is critical to your business.

Usually what’s written about follow up marketing is specifically how to create and send follow up messages…the positive side. This post is on the flip side…the negative side… of follow up messages.

Let me share this quick story with you. I recently changed my business model from doing monthly social media management to becoming a client attraction coach. In the mentoring program I belong to I reached out, by email, to 2 of the people I know very well and asked some questions pertaining to networking and asked if they would get back in touch with me with their answers. That was almost 3 weeks ago. To date, I haven’t heard from either one of them.

This is very difficult for me to understand due to two things:

  1. All three of us have a dental background, worked with an appointment book, and know how important it is to respond when there was an inquiry.
  2. We’re in the same mentoring program and one of the main goals is to help out our fellow members.

But going beyond being difficult to understand, it makes me question how they would respond to other people and how this looks professionally.

I’ve made it a point in my career to make sure I respond to any inquiry’s within a 24 hour time period. Even if it’s just to say “I wish I could help, but I don’t have an answer”. Respond and follow up.

In this age of Internet marketing and instant gratification, viewers, prospects, and clients are looking for answers…no I take that back…they are expecting answers.

When you’ve receive a request for any type of information (I’m not talking about spam questions, and off the wall messages) the worst message you can send back is…. No message.

What does not responding say?

Two things:

  • You’re too busy to get back in touch with me
  • I’m not important enough for a response

Either of these (lack of) responses sends a message that is hard to retract or explain. Plus, what word of mouth response does this send out to the people that the person sending the inquiry tells their viewers?

What if someone in their sphere needs your services and they ask the person you didn’t respond to, about you and your services? One of the first things they might say about you is that you must be a very busy person…maybe even too busy for their business… because you never answered an inquiry they sent. Whatever the answer might be, would not be a positive response in your favor.

Regardless of how small the inquiry or involved the inquiry, always take the time to at least acknowledge, respond, and follow up to someone’s inquiry.

Be someone they can admire and look up to. You may have to say you received their email, their telephone call, or letter, and will be back in touch with them, but respond and follow up. Never leave anyone thinking you are too busy, or they aren’t important enough, for a response.

If you have a VA or someone else helping with your inquiry’s make sure they know how critical responding and follow up is. Then check on a regular basis to make sure it’s being carried through and you’re both still on the same page.

This simple step of responding and follow up will do wonders for your online and offline image. Who knows, that person my become your biggest client and raving fan ever!!

Simple Action Step:

Go back through your emails or call logs and find any inquiry’s you haven’t responded to and reach out by saying you’re “sorry this got by you, but you’d like to respond to their inquiry……”. Make it a point to have a follow up system in place and stick to using it! There really are diamonds to be found in following up!!
